On March 15th, the Blót kindred Sleipner and Blót kindred Yggdrasil gathered at Replösa Burial Ground in Sweden to hold a joint Disablót – a moment of reverence, fellowship, and joy. The Powers showed their favor and kept the rain away, while Sunna let her rays break through the strong winds, bringing warmth to the eleven participants standing in a circle around the blót site.

The blót was led by Gyðja Lena Salomonsson from the blót kindred Yggdrasil and Blót officiant Emil Klangeryd from the blót kindred Sleipner. But even before the blót began, the sense of community had already grown strong. As preparations were made together, the air filled with laughter, friendly jokes, and the ever-ongoing “competition” between the leaders of the blót kindreds – a playful rivalry that only strengthened the bonds between us.

This is what means so much: that despite the solemnity of our ceremonies, we can always find joy in each other’s company. That we can laugh, share memories, and let friendship flourish. To us, blót is more than just a ceremony – it is a moment where we, as brothers and sisters, strengthen our bonds, and where even those who are not yet part of a blót kindred are welcomed with open arms and made to feel at home in the community.

At the blót site, Lena spoke about the history of the location and the runestone we had gathered by, while Emil spoke about the disir and their significance. During the rounds of toasts, the horns were raised – sometimes in quiet reverence, sometimes with powerful words that echoed through the wind.

When the blót was over, the fellowship continued by the burning fire. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and fruit juice were shared alongside cookies, while the grills spread a warming scent of freshly grilled sausages.

Old friends reunited, new connections were made, and a returning participant who had sought out the blót once again experienced the warmth and love that we see as family. Laughter and embraces filled the day, and when we parted, it was with hearts full of joy and gratitude. Such moments remain long in our memory – a reminder that our faith is not just about blót, but also about the strong bonds between us.
