For the third time we now hold the Álfablót at the Fagertofta burial ground, a 10-minute drive from Nässjö.

The burial ground has in folk speech been called “The Judgement Seat,” which derives from all the stone circles found there. The burial ground is a very majestic site that lies beautifully down in a valley. It is truly well-maintained and the place is orderly. This is a place you should all visit when you have the chance, preferably when Draupnir holds a blót there. This is a dear place to us, and we gladly return many times.

A bit up the slope by the parking area is the Midsummer Spring, where we fetch our blót water for most of our blót, likewise on this occasion. I fetched the water for the blót from the spring during the preparations before our blót. This spring has been used for washing and drinking during Midsummer night to keep oneself healthy, so when I fetched water for the blót I also took the opportunity to drink a mouthful of the fresh cold water, just to be safe.

We held the blót in “our” stone circle, 9 stones in a ring. Those of you who have been to our blót know which stone circle we use.

We had announced the blót for 16:00, and when the time came it had begun to grow dim. Unfortunately it was rather hazy, so we could not see the moon. But it was pleasantly warm for November, 8 degrees in the evening. We gathered in the ring at the appointed time and waited a few extra minutes in silence. Twelve people participated, and we missed several who had cancelled for various reasons.

The blót flowed smoothly, and after it was finished we had coffee and snacks together, and it was a very calm and pleasant moment as everyone seemed happy and talked with one another. The offerings were placed at the edge of the burial ground at the foot of our offering tree.

The hlaut-branch contained rowan, oak, aspen, willow, birch, beech, laburnum, maple, and finally alder.

The path down to the blót from the parking area was lit by torches; it was very atmospheric to follow them when the blót was over and we were walking back to the cars. The path was lit by these all the way up.

The closing went very quickly and smoothly since everyone was helpful and assisted in carrying up our blót kindred items.

Thank you all for a fine Álfablót.
