A cold and crisply clear Saturday afternoon, Ymer called for an open Midwinter Blót. We gathered behind the Royal Mounds in Old Uppsala in Sweden, and there was a fantastic turnout from several cities in the Mälaren Valley, everything from Nynäshamn, Stockholm, and Dalarna. Some had participated in blóts in other blót kindreds, and for others this was a completely new experience. The circle consisted of a total of 23 people!
Pontus blew in the great horn, it began to get dark behind the mounds. A large and clear moon appeared behind the treetops. The blót was officiated by Pontus with the help of Elin. Good energy was exchanged and mead was offered. Pontus read Viktor Rydberg’s beautiful poem about Tomten. Many participants focused the good energy toward the new year. Personally, I planned to let go of many obligations, and allow my creativity to live again. Therefore, I blóted to Bragi this time.
Many frozen toes were standing and stamping in the circle, and our fantastic members were therefore quick to bring out warm swedish fika after the blót, which was greatly appreciated!
We have welcomed several sisters and brothers into Ymer’s gang recently, and now it was time for two of them to become full members. Both Olivia and Elinor completed a short initiation ritual with me, and swore themselves into the blót kindred. I am incredibly proud and happy that you are with us, you are warmly welcome to continue to develop, improve, and strengthen what we do!
