Performed Blóts 2026: The Blót Kindred Idavallen held Disablót March 28

Like last year, Idavallen gathered in Närke, more precisely at the Lekebacken burial field, to hold a disablót. And like last year, it was very chilly. Icy winds swept through, and a few small drops of rain fell now and then. Despite this, I must say that this place has something special about it. When you walk along the path from the parking area toward the stones and the cairn beyond, a calm sets in along with a sense of past powers and their greatness. One can almost feel transported back in history. And the fact that the place is incredibly beautiful as it overlooks the plain certainly does not make the experience any worse.

As the hour approached, it was time for Thommy to begin. Today, it was only Idavallen’s own members who attended, but that makes it feel familial and emotional in a very beautiful way. The powers were called in, and since it was a disablót, our female powers were especially honored, and Thommy spoke about the dísir and their significance. I had the honor of reading a passage about one of our most powerful and beloved goddesses, namely Freyja. Toasts were made to several gods and goddesses, but also to family members, to hopes for the future, and in gratitude for our blót kindred and its members, who together create fellowship and a welcoming atmosphere. After the toasts, the powers made themselves clearly known as the weather shifted from wind, to a few sparse snowflakes, to sunshine, and back again to overcast and windy.

For the day, Mats had brought his own homemade blueberry mead, which we all had the pleasure of tasting and toasting with. It was appreciated, and Mats had succeeded well with the flavor.
As always when we gather, there are many discussions about all sorts of things, and plenty of laughter. One may feel a certain way before the blót, but afterward the feeling is always joyful and warm, and at least I myself feel grateful and honored to be part of this and to have so many wonderful people around me.

When the powers had been thanked and the blót was over, we walked together back toward the cars for the journey home. We all hugged goodbye and parted with gratitude for the day. Now we look forward to the next upcoming blót, which will be the victory blót held on May 2 at Hammars Udde in Karlstad.
Thank you to all of you who came for a beautiful blót. Thank you, Thommy, for everything you do and for the feeling you convey, and thank you to our beautiful nature for allowing us to have these moments upon your land.
