Welcome to the Nordic Asa-community.
The Faith that shaped the Nordic countries and people
The Nordic Asa-community was founded in 2014 in Norrköping. The council that formed the community felt that the time was ripe to push Asatru as an established force in society. For too long, we have lived a shadowy existence. But no longer.
That our ancient Nordic traditions and our Nordic origin and heritage are worth preserving and worth promoting. In an increasingly chaotic world, it is good to turn back to our origins and roots.
You never see or hear anything in the media about Asatru, never is a proponent of Asatru invited to talk. Nor have we been a unified established faith.
We are now working to change this. With contacts across borders, we want to become an umbrella organization for Asatruers, norse heathens, norse pagans in all their forms. To once again be respected and given the status of a world religion.
In February 2016, we took a big step by becoming a registered religious community.
The Asatru is the religion to which our Nordic ancestors devoted themselves.
The religion that created and shaped the Nordic countries and which, through the heritage of the Nordic people, is still alive around us today.
Unfortunately, Asatru has been pushed back in the past by Christianity and the intrusion of other religions. But for us, it is important to preserve our ancient traditions and stand up for who we are and our origins. To revive the Asatru and once again allow our old gods Odin, Thor and others to have a visible place in our everyday lives. To no longer have to be in the shadow of other religions, but to have our own vitality to grow strong and to be able to be seen and make an impact in the public debate.
Do you feel, like us, that the Viking in you lives on? That the power of thunder is something to be respected? That the preservation of our Nordic origins and customs is worth preserving? Then become part of the Asa-community.
We are actively working to connect the Nordic countries and anyone else who feels at home here or wants to be part of and support our activities. Asatru is older than many people think and there is evidence to suggest that its roots stretch back to the Bronze Age. It is called by many different names, the old custom, Asatru, Forn Sidr, Odinism, Norse heathenry, Norse paganism and others. But the basic idea is the same.
The Nordic Asa-community is a non-political society actively working to make Asatru a recognized world religion. To work for the preservation of Nordic customs and lifestyle.
