The Nordic Asa-community presents the Annual Rites – a new ritual order developed by the Goði/Gyðja-circle, which was put into use at the turn of the year. These rites follow the movements of the sun and the changing seasons and mark points in the annual cycle: the spring and autumn equinoxes as well as the winter solstice and the summer solstice.
The annual rites are a complement to the historically documented high holiday blots and should not replace them. Instead, they give members the opportunity to pay attention to the natural rhythms of the year and reflect on the changes of the seasons. Spring marks the transition from winter to new growth, summer the brightest and most energetic period of the year, autumn the time for harvest and reflection before the darkness of winter.
To make it easier to take part in the Annual Rites, the community has updated its website with a new section on Annual Rites, located under Asatru in the menu. You can also click the following link to go directly to the section: Annual Rites
These new Annual Rites show how the Nordic Asa-community combines historically attested tradition with modern ritual expressions, creating a living, structured, and meaningful practice for practitioners throughout the year.
