Once again, the blót kindred Idavallen gathers to hold the Victory Blót at the beautiful and historic burial sites of Hammarsudde.

This sacred ceremony is open to the public, making it an excellent opportunity for the curious to gain insight into our practices.
Perhaps you have been within the pagan sphere for a long time and wish to meet like-minded people.
Perhaps you have only just discovered this path and want to learn more.
The Nordiska Asa-samfundet (Nordic Asa-Community) and Idavallen welcome all with an open mind and good intentions.
The Victory Blót is the third blót that Odin established by law in Svíþjóð and takes place at the beginning of summer.
This is an important holiday that, in addition to marking the arrival of summer, also represents the pursuit of victory and success.
The term “blót” refers to the sacrificial rituals that are central to religious practice, while “victory” highlights the primary purpose of the festival: seeking divine blessings to triumph over the many challenges of the summer season.
However, in our modern times, our battles may not look the same as they did 1,000 years ago, and we now sacrifice based on the struggles we face and wish to overcome.
We honor and sacrifice to the divine powers during this ceremony so that they may grant us tools such as knowledge, will, and strength to win our personal battles.
The Victory Blót takes place at the third full moon after the Midwinter Blót and lasts for three days from the full moon. If one follows the Disting rule, the Victory Blót occurs on the fourth full moon after the first new moon following the Winter Solstice.
About the Location
A peninsula extends along the northern shore of Lake Vänern.
This is Hammarö, home to Värmland’s second-largest Iron Age burial field.
To the north of it lies a domarring (judgment ring).
Unfortunately, it has been significantly damaged due to sand extraction, yet it remains an impressive sight.
The nine remaining stones, originally twelve, no longer form a perfect ring, but one can still perceive the site’s original appearance.
In the early 1800s, a small dwelling also stood within the domarring.
The location itself is highly scenic regardless of the season.
It is also easily accessible, with parking available nearby.
What Can You Expect?
Depending on the holiday, we perform blóts for different reasons.
However, the core concept remains the same: we honor the divine powers and ancestors and offer to them through thoughts, toasts, and gifts.
The hope is to receive something in return.
What that may be is up to the practitioner.
As stated in Hávamál: “A gift seeks recompense in return.”
During the blót, various ritual toasts will be held, allowing participants to honor deities or beings that are significant to them or can provide assistance.
The first toast is a power ceremony.
This is a silent toast where no drink is consumed.
The second toast is a god toast, where you choose one or more divine powers to honor.
This toast is either drunk or offered by pouring it out.
The final toast is a free toast, where you have the opportunity to say whatever you feel like
whether it be a greeting, a tribute
or something you wish to express before the group.
This toast is also either drunk or offered.
It is important to note that all toasts are performed with mead.
This beverage contains alcohol, and if you do not consume it for any reason, it will still be offered at the site.
The above is only part of the ceremony. Other elements may be included, varying from time to time.
Good to Know:
• The Nordiska Asa-samfundet (Nordic Asa-Community) is apolitical, meaning no politically charged messages are accepted during our blóts and rituals.
• To participate, you must swear by the god Tyr. If you cannot do so for any reason, you cannot enter the circle.
• Bring a drinking vessel. This will be used during the various toasts.
• We encourage you to bring offerings in the form of things that nature can take care of, such as fruits, berries, grains, etc. You are also welcome to bring a stone about the size of a fist. These are placed on the hargr over the years as a monument to our presence.
• Dress according to the weather. The ceremony is stationary, and being cold is never pleasant.
• We offer an initiation ritual after the blót for those who wish to formally enter Ásatrú before the divine powers. This costs 100 SEK. The fee goes directly to the blót kindred and helps us finance our activities. If you also want a physical certificate of the performed ritual, there is an additional cost of 60 SEK. We accept Swish.
How to Get There
Set your GPS to Hammarö Kyrka (Hammarö Church).
Hammarö Kyrka, 66341 Hammarö.
Once you arrive, drive straight past the church in a northern direction onto a gravel road.
A few hundred meters in, you will find the burial field and domarring on the right side of the road.
We will be on-site from 12:00, with visible flags and markers.
