The Blót kindred Gungnir and the Blót kindred Draupnir invite you to a Midwinter Blót followed by a feast.
Gathering no later than 15:30, the blót begins at 16:00.

The Midwinter Blót is originally the heathen Yule. In the sources it is described as a blót for a good coming harvest, but also as a time when oaths were sworn, Yule was drunk, and gifts were given to one another.
The deity of Yule is Jólnir, which is one of Odin’s many names.
During the Yule celebration, toasts were made to Odin, Freyr, and the ancestors.

About the site:
The passage graves at Vårkumla (see links at the bottom) are clearly visible, situated on the crest of a ridge and surrounded by farmland.
The site is well chosen, offering a beautiful view over the landscape and the table mountains.
One of the passage graves is among the largest in the county; one of the roof slabs is estimated to weigh 16 tons.
The graves at Vårkumla are located on private land with residents nearby; please be respectful.

What can you expect:
Depending on the feast, we perform blót for different reasons, but the underlying concept is the same: we honor powers and ancestors and make offerings to them through thoughts, toasts, and gifts.
The hope is to receive something in return.
What that may be is up to the practitioner.
As stated in the Hávamál: “A gift calls for a return gift.”

Good to know:
The Nordic Asa-Community is non-political, and we therefore do not accept politically charged messages during our blót and rites.

Bring a drinking vessel; this is used during the various toasts.
Please note that the different toasts are held with mead.
This beverage contains alcohol, and if for various reasons one does not drink it, it is nevertheless offered at the site.

We encourage you to bring offering gifts consisting of things that nature itself can take care of.
This can, for example, be fruit, berries, grains, etc.

Please also bring a stone about the size of a clenched fist; these are placed on the harg over the years as a monument to our presence.

We offer an initiation rite on site after the blót has concluded.
This means that before the powers you leave your old faith behind and step into the Ásatrú.
The rite costs 100 SEK, which goes toward the kindreds’ activities; a certificate of the rite costs an additional 60 SEK, which goes to NAS.
We accept Swish on site.

After the blót, we travel to the nearby venue for a pleasant gathering with good food and drink.
The cost for the feast is 250 SEK; food and non-alcoholic beverages are included.
If you wish to bring your own drinks, that is fine.
This year’s menu is a game buffet (the same as last year, as it was very much appreciated).

Book the buffet: Swish to 0704907029, mark with “Feast + number of people,” no later than 20/1/26.
