Blót kindred Ymer invites you to the Winter nights blót, this time at Anundshög, Västerås.
Winter Nights falls on the third full moon before the Midwinter blót and lasts for three days starting with the full moon.
In the Ynglinga saga, Vinternätter is mentioned as the first blót to Odin, a sacrifice dedicated to ensuring a good coming year, which can be interpreted as the beginning of the new year.
Anundshög is an area rich in ancient remains, and the burial mound is considered one of the largest in Sweden.
We will gather at a place beside the mound for our ceremony.
What to expect:
Depending on the holiday, we perform blóts for different reasons, but the underlying concept is always the same: we honor the powers and the ancestors and make offerings to them through thoughts, toasts, and gifts.
The hope is to receive something in return.
What that may be is up to the practitioner.
As expressed in Hávamál: “Gift seeks gift in return.”
Good to know:
Bring clothing suited to the weather, as our blóts are held outdoors.
You are welcome to bring an offering for the blót, which should be something that nature can break down.
This can be, for example, vegetables, grains, berries, etc.
The Nordic Asa-community is non-political, which means that all political opinions are left at home.
