The Blót kindred Vergelmer invites you to the Álfablót.
Álfablót is one of the two blóts mentioned in the Icelandic sources. There are mainly two written sources that describe Álfablót: Austrfararvísur and Saga of Saint Olaf, and the two sagas build upon one another.
Álfablót is considered a blót rooted in the ancestral veneration that runs as a red thread through our faith.
It is a sacred celebration dedicated to honoring the elves (álfar). In Ásatrú, elves are mysterious and powerful beings, often connected to deceased ancestors, fertility, and nature.
They are regarded as mighty and sometimes unpredictable spirits who could influence the health, prosperity, and well-being of the living.
Álfablót is an important occasion to honor these beings, seek their favor, and ensure a harmonious relationship between the world of humans and their realm.
The elves hold a central place in Ásatrú and are associated with both the land and the ancestors.
The concept of elves is closely tied to our forefathers and foremothers — family members and kin who are no longer with us.
In other contexts, they are perceived as nature spirits, strongly connected to specific places such as groves, hills, or burial mounds.
This dual connection to both nature and ancestry emphasizes the elves’ vital role in maintaining the balance between the human and the spiritual worlds in Ásatrú.

Álfablót is also known as the blót performed behind closed doors — a private family ceremony to which outsiders were not welcome.
It was considered highly improper, even taboo, for strangers to attend, since the relationship between the family and the ancestors was deeply personal and sacred.
By keeping the blót within the household, one could ensure that the relationship with the ancestors remained pure, undisturbed, and properly honored.
The elves were seen as protectors and guardians of the family, but their favor was not something to be taken for granted.
By offering gifts, one not only affirmed the elves’ continuous protection but also expressed deep gratitude for the blessings received throughout the year.
In this mutual relationship, offerings functioned both as thanks and as a plea for the elves’ continued support — especially as people prepared to face the harsh and uncertain challenges of the coming winter months.
This exchange underscores the interdependence between the worlds of humans and ancestors, reinforcing the idea that the family’s well-being and the ancestors’ favor were intertwined, supporting one another in a delicate balance.

All are welcome to participate in this blót. Each participant should bring an offering (blót gift).
Please bring your own drinking horn or cup if possible; disposable cups will also be available.
It’s recommended to arrive on time, preferably by 15:45.
We will meet at the entrance and then walk together to the blót site.

After the blót, an initiation ceremony may be performed.
This means that before the Powers you leave your old faith behind and step into Ásatrú.
The cost is 100 SEK, and if you wish to receive a certificate of the performed rite, there is an additional fee of 60 SEK.
Payment via Swish is accepted.
Please inform the officiants on site if you wish to take part in this ceremony.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact us on site or through the email above.
See you there.
