Welcome to Draupnir’s Winter Nights blót
Summer has passed, and Winter Nights marks the beginning of winter.
Winter Nights is traditionally celebrated for three days, but we will hold the blót on Saturday, October 4th at 14:00.
The blót will take place at the Dimbo burial ground, located in Dimbo, south of the church, along the road toward Ottravad.
This is Västergötland’s largest burial ground, with nearly 300 graves from the Iron Age.
At the site one can see many burial mounds, circular stone settings, three-pointed stone settings (treuddar), hollow ways, and a later rune stone.
Parking is available adjacent to the burial ground.
After the blót there will be an opportunity for initiation into Ásatrú, which means renouncing one’s current faith and stepping into the old faith.
The cost for the initiation ceremony is 100 SEK, which goes to the blót kindred.
If you would like a ceremonial certificate, an additional 60 SEK applies.
We accept both cash and Swish.
Please inform the blót officiant, Peter Karlsson, before the blot if you are interested.
Bring a drinking vessel for the toasts we raise during the ceremony, as well as an offering for the blót that is biodegradable (fruit, vegetables, berries, etc.).
If the weather allows, we will have a swedish fika with our own brought refreshments at a suitable spot near the burial ground, in the glow of our lanterns.
How to find the blót:
The burial ground is located about 10 km west of Tidaholm in the village of Dimbo, south of the church, along the road toward Ottravad.
Parking is available adjacent to the burial ground.
