Once again, blót kindred Gungnir gathers to hold its annual Álfablót.
This blót is open to the public, and is therefore an excellent opportunity for the curious to gain insight into what we do.
Perhaps you have long been within the heathen sphere and wish to meet like-minded people.
Perhaps this is something you have only just discovered and want to learn more about.
The Nordic Asa-community and Gungnir welcome all with an open mind and good intentions.

The Álfablót takes place at the first full moon after Winter Nights and lasts for a day and night.
Álfablót is one of the two blóts mentioned in the Icelandic sources and is considered a blót of ancestor worship, which runs like a red thread through our faith.
This is a celebration dedicated to reverence for the elves.

In Ásatrú, elves are mysterious and powerful beings, often connected with deceased ancestors, fertility, and nature.
The Álfablót is an important occasion to honor them, seek their favor, and ensure a harmonious relationship between humans and their worlds.

The concept of elves is linked to our forefathers, foremothers, family members, relatives, kinsmen, and kinswomen who are no longer with us.
In other contexts, they are perceived as nature spirits, closely tied to specific places such as groves, hills, or burial mounds.
This dual connection to both nature and ancestors underlines the elves’ important role in maintaining the balance between the human and the spiritual in Ásatrú.

About the location:
Ekornavallen is a unique site with graves from different eras gathered in one place.
There is a 4,000-year gap between the oldest and the youngest grave.
The first thing one probably notices is the large passage grave and all the standing stones.
The passage grave, dating to around 3300–3000 BC, was a burial site for many individuals, probably an entire kin-group.
In local tradition it is known as Girommen (“the giant oven”).

What can you expect?
Depending on the occasion, we perform blóts for different reasons, but the underlying concept is always the same: we honor the powers and the ancestors, and we offer to them through thoughts, toasts, and gifts.
The hope is to receive something in return.
What that might be is up to the practitioner.
As it says in Hávamál: “A gift demands a gift in return.”

Good to know:
The Nordic Asa-community is non-political, and we therefore do not accept politically charged messages during our blóts and rites.

• To participate, you must swear by the god Tyr.
If you cannot do so for any reason, you will not be able to join the blót circle.

• Bring a drinking vessel. This is used during the various toasts. If you don’t have one, we will provide disposable cups on site.

• We encourage bringing offerings in the form of items that nature itself can absorb.
This could be fruit, berries, grains, etc.
We also encourage bringing a stone about the size of a fist.
These are placed on the hargr over the years as a monument to our presence.

• Dress according to the weather.
The ceremony is stationary, and being cold is never pleasant.

• We offer an initiation rite on site after the blót.
This means that, before the powers, you can step into Ásatrú.
The cost is 100 SEK, which goes directly to the blot group and helps finance our activities.
If you would also like a physical certificate of the performed rite, an additional cost of 60 SEK applies.
Payment via Swish is accepted.

After the blót, there will be an opportunity for fellowship and a meal in Falköping, most likely at a pizzeria. Participation is at cost price.
